Our commitment
We collect and use personal information only for identified, legitimate business purposes, with safeguards suited to its sensitivity. This policy describes how 3JIndustry handles information collected through this online store, inquiries and transactions. It reflects the technologies and service providers actually in use on the date shown above.
Information we collect
- Orders: name, email address, telephone, billing and delivery addresses, the items ordered and the order history, so that we can fulfil and support your order.
- Customer account (optional): the details you enter in your account on this store.
- Quotation requests and messages: what you send us by email or through a contact form (name, company, email, telephone, message, parts and quantities, attached files).
- Orders placed on marketplaces: for sales made through eBay, we receive the buyer’s name and delivery details from that platform to fulfil the order.
- Offers of equipment for sale: the lists, photos and location details you send us by email. Please do not include unnecessary employee information, passwords, internal network diagrams or other sensitive information.
- Shipping and customs: delivery addresses and, when required, importer or end-use information.
- Technical data: Shopify, which runs this store, processes connection data such as IP address, browser and device to deliver and protect the store.
- Payment: card and payment details are entered at checkout and processed by Shopify and the payment providers offered there; we do not receive or store your full card number.
Email marketing
Email marketing is optional. We send it only to people who gave their consent, and we keep the date of that consent as proof, as Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation requires. Every message has an unsubscribe link; we stop at once. After you unsubscribe, we keep only the record of your consent and unsubscription, for at most 3 years, to prove we respected your choice.
Why we use it
We use this information to process and fulfil orders; answer inquiries; prepare quotations; assess equipment offered to us; arrange delivery and customs formalities; provide after-sales service and handle warranty claims; meet our accounting, tax and legal obligations; and keep the store secure. We do not use it for advertising profiles.
Consent
When consent is required, we ask for it in clear terms and keep optional marketing separate from messages needed to answer your request or fulfil your order. Every marketing message includes a way to unsubscribe, as Canada’s anti-spam law requires.
Service providers who process information for us
- Shopify — hosting of this online store, customer accounts, checkout and payment processing.
- Payment providers offered at checkout — to process your payment.
- Cloudflare — hosting of our internal order and inventory system, where orders are recorded to be fulfilled.
- eBay — the marketplace through which some orders are placed.
- Shipping carriers and customs brokers — when we ship an order.
- We also disclose information to public authorities when the law requires it. We do not sell personal information.
Processing outside Québec
Some of these providers operate outside Québec and Canada, in particular in the United States. Your information may therefore be stored or processed outside Québec, where it may be subject to the laws of that country. As Québec’s privacy law requires, before communicating personal information outside Québec we assess the privacy-related factors, and we use only providers bound by written commitments to protect it.
Cookies and similar technologies
Shopify sets the cookies needed for the cart, checkout, customer accounts and security of this store, and may set analytics cookies to measure how the store is used. Where a cookie banner is shown, you can choose which optional cookies to accept. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser; some store features may then stop working.
Retention and security
We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes above and for our legal record-keeping obligations, then destroy or anonymize it. Technical logs are deleted after 7 days and database backups after 30 days. Quotation requests and their attached files, orders and customer records are kept for as long as you remain our customer, so that we can find the parts and history you dealt with, and for at least six years after the end of the year of your last transaction, as Canadian and Québec tax laws require; after that, they are destroyed or anonymized.
Access to our systems is restricted to authorized staff with multi-factor authentication, connections are encrypted, quotation files are kept in private storage that is never public, and payments are processed by PCI DSS–compliant providers. No system can guarantee absolute security.
Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you may ask to access the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected, to withdraw your consent where applicable, and to receive information about our practices and complaint process. Other rights may apply in certain places, such as under the GDPR. We verify identity as appropriate and answer within the time limits set by law.
Privacy incidents and changes
We have a process for handling suspected confidentiality incidents, taking measures to reduce the risk of harm and making the notifications required by law. The effective date of this policy is shown at the top; material changes are communicated as required.
